Relatively quiet & very conveniently located hotel. Friendly staff, great breakfast, good beds. PROS - Very conveniently located to nearby malls & supermarkets including Costco, Trader Joes, etc… - Manhattan Beach/Pier is about 7-10m drive - Helpful, friendly staff including breakfast area, cleaning staff & front desk - Clean, spacious rooms with practical kitchen space including large fridge - Security guard onsite - Full breakfast is great, though the scrambled eggs were a little artificial for me as is the case for other hotels. However, they also offer actual real boiled eggs as an alternative - Quiet area despite being near to a light rail - Beds have good back support. Firm & soft pillows provided CONS - Daily parking fee of $20 or so, though others in the area will gouge you more - Could use a few more elevators? Didn’t see any other than 2 in the building - TV stand was located in an area where it tends to get in the way when walking within the room. Not that big a deal

I can’t say enough good things about my stay at TownePlace Suites. I had just gone through a really stressful day after being in a car accident, and everything felt overwhelming. From the moment I arrived, the staff showed nothing but kindness, patience, and genuine care. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of during a time I really needed it. Their level of customer service truly stood out and made a difficult situation so much easier to handle. It’s rare to come across a team that is this understanding and accommodating. Hands down one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. I’m incredibly grateful and would highly recommend staying here.

Family-friendly hotel for extended stays. Rooms are equipped with a full kitchen, including utensils. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. A complimentary buffet breakfast is offered. Parking is available for a flat daily fee. It's very quiet and conveniently located near highways, the airport, beaches, and the subway station. It's a member of the Marriott chain.

This is a qualified four stars, because it rates only in comparison with local residence type suites, which for various reasons I happened to sample. Compared to the nearby Residence Inn for example, this is a comparative gem. First off, much cleaner. The hall carpets at the RI were in shreds. There was a puke (or something worse) stain on the carpet in my room that they couldn't clean, so they just left it there, rather than replace the carpet. Second, the "full kitchen" I was promised at the RI was a joke, no oven, no frying pan, and little tiny glasses and cups, like for a child's tea party. The TownePlace kitchen is really good, enough counter space, and a compact oven big enough to take anything you're likely to cook. The coffee cups are too small, but the glasses and dishes are normal size, like for an adult. I was there for a couple of weeks, and my culinary style wasn't cramped at all, in fact, I developed quite a fondness for that cozy kitchen. Third, the hot water and pressure is good here, no issues. At the Residence Inn both were awful. I could barely stand to take a shower, and that setting produced a loud groan from the pipes. Ridiculous. Fourth, and this kind of goes off the books, you can trick the LG TV's here to play downloaded shows and movies off a USB stick (FAT32 format, x264 only), and you can't do that at the RI. In fact, if you try, they have to reboot the TV's, oops. I'll leave how to the internet. Try plugging in the stick and out until it recognizes it, but it works. Finally, there's the internet . . . a giant whiff, oh well. The internet at both hotels is pitiful, horrible, an unstable 5-6 megs, and that's the premium service, you have to pay for that! In this day and age, that's just about unacceptable. Still, if you're stuck in one of these relatively inexpensive places out in the sticks, this is the one to get. Access north and south bound is easy by the lesser traveled arterials, if you're savvy.

Quite possibly one of the best hotels/suite hotels I've ever stayed in. I am a basic *****, so I never use hotel pools/gyms or eat the breakfast provided anyway, so those amenities don't matter. What matters to me is the room itself. Does it make me feel safe? Does it look/smell clean? Am I happy being in the room? This Towneplace Suites hotel gets 10/10, 5 stars across the board in my opinion. Location: 1) Ample parking 2) Great location. Safe, lots of shopping, fast food, restaurants nearby. 3) Entire hotel smelled and looked clean. 4) Parking is tucked away behind the building far away from the street, so I felt like my car was safe there while it was parked. Room: 1) I stayed in room 238 queen bed suite. The rooms are like mini luxury apartments. They are a very good size. Large closet, clean modern bathroom, a living room area with a sofa/coffee table, large tv, and kitchenette. Very clean room, nothing was stained or anything like that. No random hairs anywhere. 2) Kitchenette: Stove/oven, stainless steel sink with food disposal, stainless steel dishwasher, stainless steel full-sized refrigerator, coffee maker, stainless steel microwave. 3) 4 ceramic large plates, 4 ceramic medium plates, 4 ceramic bowls, 4 drinking glasses, a measuring cup, colander, glass mixing bowl, cutlery, cooking knives, vegetable peeler, measuring spoons, cooking spatula/spoon, pot holders, 2 stainless steel cooking pans, 1 large cooking pot, 1 baking tray, 2 dish towels, mini bottle of dish soap, paper towels are all provided/stocked in your room before checking in. Absolutely fantastic to see! 5) Large, comfy bed. 6) All of the staff, from front desk to that security guy who stands outside to housekeeping were all so friendly. 7) May have been because my room was directly next to the stairwell, but I had a very quiet stay, for the most part. There were 2 days in a row when, at 10am, I heard the unmistakable sounds of my hotel neighbor having *cough* relations *cough*. So, beware, your bedroom sounds aren't as muted as you may think. Also, the last weekend I was here there was a motorcycle thing going on, so it was a lot of motorcycle revving, loud music, and talking, but noises don't bother me. 8) Great temperature control in the room. 9) Paul Mitchell shower gel/shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, lots of towels provided in the bathroom. Dislikes: 1) $16/day for parking. A 2 week stay will run you an extra $224. 2) Pillows on the bed were too soft for me, but I made it work. 3) Not a great variety of tv channels. Luckily Ridiculousness is practically on repeat on MTV day and night so I was happy! 4) Sink in the bathroom drained rather slow from day 1. Wasn't a big deal, but probably had a lot of hair in the drain. 5) Housekeeping only once ever 7 days of your stay. Personally, I never use housekeeping anyway so that doesn't bother me, but it might for some, so I figured I'd put it here. I chose this hotel because I am in the process of moving to California. My first few weeks here I did the "vacation thing" until getting into a cheaper Airbnb while I look for a job/place to live. I chose this place because of the kitchenette. Before my move I spent 36 days in a row driving through each of the lower 48 states on a road trip and wanted to do some actual home cooking for once. Hotels in Los Angeles are expensive, that's a fact. This is a suite hotel, so the rooms are going to be more expensive than most places, but it's so worth it. This hotel was one of the cheaper options on hotels.com (a big reason why I chose it, too) but it doesn't show it (if that makes sense). I'm not sure how much more "luxurious" the more expensive suite hotel options are in Los Angeles, but this place, to me, was perfect. On my road trip, I've stayed in over 35 cheap hotels/motels. This is the kind of hotel room that even without housekeeping/laundry/free breakfast/gym/pool, you just wish you could live there permanently. I certainly do.
